Standing Committee

Background

In 2000, following a recommendation from the Staff Training & Development Panel, the Branching Out Steering Committee asked An Chomhairle to establish a Standing Committee on Public Library Staff Training and Development. The Committee is broadly representative of all those interested in staff training and development and its brief includes the identification of training needs and of suitable courses and trainers.

Membership

The membership of the Standing Committee (Jan 2010) is:

  • Anne D. Callan, Personnel Officer, Louth County Council, nominated by the Local Authority Training Officers' Network
  • John Conway, Training & Development Officer, Local Government Management Services Board, nominated by the Board;
  • Helen Fallon, Deputy Librarian, National University of Ireland, Maynooth, nominated by the Academic and National Library Training Co-operative (ANLTC);
  • Dave Corcoran , Assistant Principal Officer, Department of the Environment & Local Government, nominated by the Department;
  • Pat Lonergan, Assistant Librarian, Kildare County Library, nominated by the Library Association of Ireland;
  • Norma McDermott, Director, An Chomhairle Leabharlanna, Convenor;
  • Ned O'Connor, County Manager, South Tipperary County Council, nominated by the County and City Managers' Association;
  • Liam Ronayne, County Librarian, Cork City Library, nominated by IMPACT;
  • Brendan Teeling, Assistant Director, An Chomhairle Leabharlanna, Secretary;
  • Austin Vaughan, County Librarian, Mayo County Library, nominated by the Library Association of Ireland.
