Cork County Library & Arts Service was delighted to host reading by 11 Munster based poets in Midleton and Skibbereen libraries in early December. These readings which were very popular with poetry-loving library users were held to launch the online poetry journal Southward, which is published by the Munster Literature Centre.

The centre’s director, Pat Cotter introduced the sessions in conjunction with poet James Harpur. Pat outlined the history of the print version of Southword and the economic and cultural changes which have led to the very successful transfer to an online presence for poetry in the Munster area. The enthusiastic audiences were then treated to readings by poets, Joe Horgan, Marie Coveney, Adam Wyeth, Afric McGlinchey, Eugene O’Connell, Ian Wild and John Wakeman.
