The BorrowBooks service provides a single online point of access and search across all of the public library authorities’ catalogues, enabling borrowers to locate and request items not held in their own library service.

An initiative of the public library network, Borrowbooks is supported by An Chomhairle and the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

Officially launched in 2006, the BorrowBooks service grew in popularity in 2008, with 13,882 items being supplied through the public library service, an increase of 39% on 2007.
